BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek Parks, Recreation & Cultural Department hosts a variety of events and programs for residents. Classes are held at CI Beaver Hall, 3696 Highmont St. unless otherwise noted. The following is a listing of upcoming events. Fees vary for programs. Register for Beginning Guitar Class for youth and adults. Beginning Guitar provides small group classes that cover beginning guitar notation, chords and guitar techniques. Participants must provide their own acoustic or classical guitar or rent one for the duration of the class. Classes are scheduled for Tuesdays, April 11-May 2 at the Piano Preparatory School, 3899 Indian Ripple Road, Suite C. Resident fee is $56 and non-resident fee is $64.
Kids adventures & artful antics
Kids Adventures & Artful Antics will provide a great adventure for you and your child ages 3-6 years old. Participants will explore different art processes, STEM challenges, simple science experiments, music, movement, games and more.
The class is scheduled for 11-11:45 a.m. Tuesdays, April 11 – May 9. Resident fee is $35 and non-resident fee is $40. Material fee included.
Jump start sports is offering Hummingbirds Soccer for children ages 3-6. Boys and girls will have fun while learning the basics of soccer and fundamental skills of the game. Sessions teach young children through fun drills and low-key non-competitive games.
The program is scheduled for Mondays, April 17-May 22, 5:30 or 6:30 pm (ages 3-4) and 6:30 (ages 5-6) at Rotary Park. Fee for residents is $70; non-resident fee is $80.
Summer kick off & kite fly
Summer Kick Off & Kite Fly is a free family event which will provide a summertime preview with music, food, games and bounce houses. Staff will be on hand to give the latest information on upcoming activities including sports and summer camps. The Greene Optimist Club will also be on site to celebrate National Kites Month with kites for children to fly. Come enjoy the kick off at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at Dominick Lofino Park, 640 Grange Hall Road.
Beginner archery clinic
Beginner Archery Clinic at Rotary Park picnic shelter from 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday, April 29.
This clinic is appropriate for beginner archers (both children and adults) with little to no experience with archery. A certified archery instructor will teach participants safe archery procedures, basic equipment use, the basics of shooting a bow and arrow as well as time to practice. Equipment will be provided by the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
Beginner Archery Clinic is for ages 10 thru Adult. Youths age 10 – 17 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older. $7 Resident/$10 Pair of residents; $12 non-resident/ $15 pair of non-residents (Examples of “pairs” caregiver & child, an adult couple, siblings, etc.) Call 937-427-5514 to receive “pair” pricing.
Perennial trade day
Perennial Trade Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 29 at Rotary Park Shelter, 2260 Dayton-Xenia Road. This free event invites gardeners to bring some plants to trade. Every trader should bring at least 10 plants to swap for others. Gardeners can bring perennials, bulbs, rhizomes, trees, shrubs or indoor plants. Plants should be potted, and bulbs and rhizomes should be bagged. All plants should be clearly labeled so its new owner will know what it is.
Set up and preview time is 9:30 a.m. Trading begins promptly at 10 a.m. Plan to be on time because the trading takes place very quickly and is over in a few short minutes. Latecomers will be disappointed to find that they missed all of the action.
Twinkling fairy princess tea party
Caregivers and their children ages 3-7 years old are invoted to register for Twinkling Fairy Princess Tea Party. Little ones are encouraged to wear their fairy princess dresses and costumes. Participants will create a special garden, decorate cookies, play games and receive fairy princess wings! You’ll also enjoy snacks and pixie teas.
The Tea Party is scheduled for 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 29. Resident fee is $20; non-resident fee is $25.
