BEAVERCREEK – Soin Medical Center Urologist Dr. Jorge Arzola will present a seminar on the latest treatment options for the prostate on Feb. 9.

“It is estimated that 12 million men in the US are afflicted with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with 48 percent of men avoiding any treatment due to fear of the side effects of the medicines or surgical procedures,” said Dr. Arzola.

Dr. Arzola is certified in an FDA-cleared treatment for enlarged prostate called the UroLift System.

This procedure opens up the blocked urethra without ongoing medications or more invasive procedures.

The doctor is hosting the seminar to provide awareness to men about the new and improved medical care options available for urological conditions.

He not only specializes in urology, but has particular interest in oncology, female urology, urinary stone disease, male infertility, BPH, erectile dysfunction and prosthetics. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester, New York, and received his medical degree and performed his surgical internship at State University of New York in Buffalo, New York.

The doctor has served as a U-2 Flight Surgeon at Beale Air Force Base, California and completed his Urology Residency with the U.S. Air Force at Wilford Hall. Dr. Arzola also served as an urologist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base from 2008 to 2013 where he served as the Commander of the Surgical Specialties flight and Chief of the Urology element. He deployed to Afghanistan as a urologist from December 2011 to June 2012.

Dr. Arzola was awarded the distinguished Emmett Broxson Award for Outstanding Compassion Patient Care in 2010. He also is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Wright State University and is Board Certified in Urology.

“The goal of the seminar is to discuss the disease process of BPH and its treatment options available right here in Greene County,” he added.
