STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Mark Alstork was the lone Wright State Raider to score in double figures (15 points), but Justin Mitchell was close with nine points and 11 rebounds, in Saturday’s 72-50 road loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Steven Davis also finished with nine points in the Raiders loss.

Penn State (6-3) was led by Shep Garner’s 17 points, Payton Banks scored 15, while Lamar Stevens and Josh Reaves scored 12 each.

Alstork was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line and WSU shot 80 percent (12 of 15) from the line as a team. Wright State (6-3) converted 16 of its 66 shots (24.2 percent) from the floor, however.

The Raiders men’s basketball team heads to Chicago on Wednesday to take on former Horizon League foe Loyola University. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern.WSU women back in action

FAIRBORN — The Wright State women’s basketball team gears back up after a short break to host Mid-American Conference foe Kent State at 7 p.m., Wednesday, and travel to Big Ten opponent Illinois at 3 p.m. Sunday. The first will be shown on ESPN3 while the Illinois game will be streamed through BTN+.

Wright State, 4-2 after defeating Tennessee Tech, Grace, Eastern Illinois and Chicago State, with losses to Georgetown and Clemson, have been led by Chelsea Welch’s 17.5 points per game and Lexi Smith at 14.0 and 7.2 rebounds. Symone Simmons has averaged 8.5 rebounds a game and 8.3 points.

The Golden Flashes (4-4) have won two straight now with victories over Florida Gulf Coast and Fort Wayne. Larissa Lurken, who recently scored her 1,000th career point, leads KSU at 23.3 points per game and 6.6 rebounds. Jordan Korinek also sits with double figures at 11.1 points. Kent State leads the overall series 2-1.

The Illini (3-5) with game at South Dakota before meeting the Raiders, recently defeated Fort Wayne. Alex Wittenger leads the way with a scoring average of 13.0 and rebounding average of 10.4. The teams have never met before.

The Raiders will host the Wright State Invitational, presented by Holiday Inn, starting Dec. 15 with Cincinnati Christian, then Dec. 19 versus Eastern Kentucky, Dec. 20 vs. Fort Wayne and Dec. 21 vs. Miami (OH).
