BEAVERCREEK — The Trebein Elementary Third Annual Science Fair was held May 5.

According to science teacher Angela Hoh, “This year we had record participation, with more than 100 students from grades three, four, and five. Participation was completely voluntary, so it was great to see so much excitement and interest in science.”

Students worked on their investigations for more than a month.

“We were privileged to have more than 50 volunteer judges from our community help us out. They included parents, volunteers from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and some eighth grade students from Coy Middle School,” added Hoh.

Project topics range from food, to clean energy, electromagnetism, sports, growing plants and chemical reactions. Students tested bacteria in the mouth, the best ingredients for bubbles, which foods mold first, the aerodynamics of paper air planes and rockets and much more.

“It’s exciting to see so many young scientists at work!” she said.
