ENON — Greeneview trampled through the rain and muddy field on Saturday at Greenon Stadium much like it has been recently against the OHC South.

The Rams overpowered Greenon 27-0 to begin divisional play, the team’s seventh shutout during its 16-game winning streak against OHC South opponents.

Greeneview never allowed the Knights to get within 30 yards of the end zone with the ball, and did not allow a play over 20 yards against them as the rain fell throughout the contest and the grass field’s condition became muddier and slippery as the game wore on.

An initial three-and-out to start the game led to short field position at Greenon’s side of the 40-yard line. Cooper Payton received the hand off on each snap until he powered his way to the game’s opening score midway through the first quarter.

Payton added a second touchdown run midway through the second and the ofense further rewarded its defense’s effort with a solid lead heading into halftime.

Backed up near its own 20, Greeneview did not appear to be in a rush to gain yards with under two minutes remaining until the break. Alex Horney, after being bottled up on a sideline run, kept the ball again on the next snap and found a hole in the middle of the field for a 71-yard burst. A timeout with eight seconds left allowed Greeneview to get another snap off and Horney was able to pitch the ball to Chase Walker for a touchdown from four yards out to take a 20-0 lead into halftime.

Greeneview took the ball to start the second half down the field for another touchdown as Horney got his 10th score of the season. Greenon attempted to switch to a passing attack in an attempt to get back in the game, but the mud did not allow for its receivers to gain much separation to be successful.

The Rams got the ball back with just under eight minutes to play and ran the remainder of the clock out, eventually taking a knee as it cross midfield to secure the win.

The game was originally scheduled to be played on Friday with Greeneview hosting, but the game was postponed due to high winds and heavy rain in the area. The teams switched game sites due to a power outage in Jamestown, and the Rams remained the designed home team for the contest.

Greeneview is next scheduled to return home for a week seven game hosting Southeastern.
